One Key Recovery Backup.wsi

Hi, First off.I'm not a big fan of some of the things in Win 8, but a 'Hidden Bios Key' is not something that can be blamed on Microsoft.I myself personally doubt if such a thing even exists. You are not the first person to mention this though. If such a thing DOES exist, it is the doing of the computer manufacturer, not Microsoft. I have installed Win 8 on three machines, switched drives. Switched from HDD to SSD and vice versa, and have seen absolutely ZERO indication of any hidden key in bios.

I have switched to a SSD using an Acronis Image without any complaint from the OS.but this is Win 7. I have upgraded it to Win 8 Pro doing a clean install by reformatting the OEM HDD partition with Win 8 during the Install.also without a problem, and then restored an Acronis Image to The SSD without a problem. On one occassion, when playing around eliminating some extra partitions on the HDD, Win 7 refused to boot. A Boot Repair with ANY Win 7 installation disk solved the problem.

The was due to boot files stored on the other partitions though, not the BIOS. Now.a valid Key must be entered to procede with the installation.and BIOS would be a convient place to store it. Win 8 doesn't seem to care about the HDD, although Restoring an Image to a smaller partition drive may be a problem if the software being used is not capable of 'Shrinking' it to fit.
